the middle

35 years old. What used to be synonymous with aunty/uncle tag. The beginnings of thirties are a state of denial. Thirty Five is a state of peace and acceptance. Age will not get better but the pressure to remain a "youth" is off.

The middle is often a cosy place. We are attuned to the rhythms of our daily life. We are most likely a subdued version of our younger self. The air around our primary family/work roles is pretty much clear. We can take time out for our secondary aspirations. Our Second innings.

The uncertainties of future worry us less. We are wiser with the experience that things or people or situations that have not changed status quo so far will not miraculously change except for a force majeure. And force majeures rarely occur and even rarer so, in our favor.

It's a beginning of a new era where we can worry about big picture issues and ideas like how we can play a role in making a world better place - Global warming, Recycling Plastic and Global Economics like currency devaluation and so on. It's a welcome relief from the usual earlier social worries of being accepted, being valued and being loved. They are still the most important thing but we don't break our heads over it. We learn to acknowledge, accept and not fight the reality.

We are comfortable with our identity- the best of it and the worst of it. We don't fret much over how we are perceived. We are comfortable moving on from situations that dampen our spirits.

To meditating when overwhelmed,  to realizing you sometimes lose to win, to being a bigger person in quiet, to accepting oneself wholly, to loving freely and to staying calm.

Thirties ain't so bad!
